Welcome to the Home of the 'SNAKE VALLEY ASTRONOMICAL ASSOCIATION''. Snake Valley is nestled between
Ballarat and Beaufort in western Victoria, Australia.
We are fortunate to have very dark country sky, which makes our viewing nights quite spectacular.
We meet & observe as a group each month from 7:30pm, (check 'Latest News' page for dates) but members and visitors are welcome
to come along any Friday night. Please call first to make sure a member will be there on the alternate Friday
nights: 0418 425 207.
We are located at the Snake Valley Recreation Reserve, Chepstowe Road Snake Valley. The Clubroom is very
comfortable and helps take the chill out on those very cold 'country air' nights.
Come along, observe, relax, have a cuppa, and feel welcome. Please respect the guidelines & general
etiquette here when visiting our location.
We also have a library for members to use containing Astronomy books, magazines and Telescope accessories,
we enjoy helping beginners, and we conduct Astronomy programs in local schools.
To take advantage of our position away from city glare, we also hold 'Snake Valley Astronomy Camps' each
March and November, which have had a great response from Amateur Astronomers across Australia.
Visitors are always made welcome on our observing nights and at the Camps.
Please browse through our site and keep up with latest SVAA news, dates of observing nights and Camps,
photos of past Camps and members' equipment, and how to be a part of our great Astronomy Association.
