Welcome to the home of the 'SNAKE VALLEY NOVEMBER ASTRONOMY CAMP'

Our 'SVAA'November Astronomy Camp are held on the new moon at the restful Snake Valley Camp in very dark skies.

The Camp has 12 bunkhouses and plenty of camping space in the 2 camping areas. The facilities are very comfortable, consisting of a huge kitchen with all utensils supplied, large dining room toaccommodate approximately 50 people at a time, meeting room, recreation room with pool table and table tennis, and a Toilet/Shower block with hot water.
There is power to the viewing field and enough space to accommodate more than 100 observers.

There is a small lake for fishing, swimming or canoeing, and a BBQ area with undercover seating.
The March camp is 3 nights, and November camp is 4 nights. The bunkhouses get booked fast, so early booking is essential. Or you may prefer to pitch a tent or bring your caravan. Either way, book inearly to reserve your spot.

During the daytime, many people take advantage of the sites around Ballarat and the local area like Sovereign Hill and the Wineries or take a bushwalk. General Stores and Golf Course are only minutesaway. We have guest speakers on various Astro subjects, and vendors are welcome to sell their Astronomy wares at the Buy/Sell/Swap.
Nightfall is when the excitement starts, as the heavens begin their display from the camps very dark location.

If, by unfortunate circumstances, the nights are cloudy, movies are available to watch in the dining room, and someone will fire up a workshop on Telescope maintenance or Astrophotography tips andtricks.
